Security measures have been implemented to prevent disruptions to the network caused by virus outbreaks.  Students are required to authenticate and validate in order to access ResNet.

What is authentication?
This is the process of verifying your access to the network by confirming your username and password and associating it to your computer.  Basically, it is the process of telling the network who you are.

The authentication process will begin when you try to access the internet by opening your internet browser.  You will be redirected to an authentication page and be prompted to enter a username and password.  This will be same information you use to access your Edisto account.

What is validation?
This is the process of confirming that important security measures are in place and up-to-date on your computer.

The validation process will begin after authentication is complete.  During validation, your computer will be scanned to verify that you have Symantec Antivirus installed and that you have installed all critical updates/security patches for your operating system
